Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. She was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington Paquin made her acting debut as Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress aged 11 years old, making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the empathetic and curious girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) brought her the award. After she responded to an audition call and was selected for the part, she was cast in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a deaf Scottish piano player who moves into New Zealand in mid-19th-century to marry. The actress was just nine and had no acting experience. In her teens her family relocated to the United States. Paquin played Jane Eyre's protagonist as a teen in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) as well as the main role in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin was the character Frankie Addams as a child in the 1996 television adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 film Amistad. The actress played teens in the films of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) as well as in the role of character of the polexia Aphrodisa character in Almost Famous (2000).
