April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is among a few women beach volleyball athletes to have achieved this feat. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross in Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross will also be hoping for her first Olympic gold. It may well be that she has one opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, and even play well and they are able to play well, the team will be able to win the gold medal. Also, I'll take the chance to have luck. Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. She lived here with her mother, father and sister. Ross went on to play in many activities in Newport Harbor High School. Apart from indoor volleyball, she was a basketball player and also ran track in her pre-college days. She was definitely superior to the rest in this latter game. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker, outside setter and hitter at the tennis court as per her college bio. She was awarded one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. Also, in 2000 she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. While Ross Klineman and Ross are in the spotlight from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches even before the pair formed. The American has been a major winner in events twice, with various partners. One of them has become an icon of the volleyball world. She teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's trainer. Kessy and Ross were an impressive force on the international circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 together. The duo eventually captured a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team who won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, took their opponents to claim the gold. As fate would have it Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. The duo won the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Following high school, and for a few years before she hit the sand as a pro Ross balled out with the Trojans of USC as a collegiate. Her time at USC was an impressive one. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Award and also be named an All-American. In 2000, her Trojans made it to the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, yet was successful in achieving the All-American distinction. The last two years in the Trojans team they won success by winning two successive national titles. Her individual achievements have cemented her as a volleyball legend. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross was an USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the chance to watch Ross' daughter blossom into an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. As a result, Ross remains close to her deceased parent. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her both at and off the beaches.
