In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just 6 months. The song is a blend of pop music and reggaeton has not just brought interest in reggaeton but also drew interest to Latin music in general. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 compared with two for 2015. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017 however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) and Madonna was a part of Medellin with Maluma (2019). Some reggaeton artists expressed their displeasure at the rise of popular music by 2020. However, a brand new band, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the evolution and development of reggaeton. The group incorporated elements from different types of music and electronic.
